Fumigation

Fumigation is used for product batches, grain, pallets, bags, big bags, containers, railcars, packaging and warehouse areas where pests may be inside packaging, raw materials or enclosed volumes.

When fumigation is required

Fumigation is needed where ordinary surface treatment is not enough: when there is a risk of infestation in products, warehouse batches, wooden packaging, pallets, containers, transport units and enclosed volumes.

  • Pallets, boxes, bags, big bags, packaging and packing materials.
  • Containers, truck bodies, railcars, enclosed volumes and separate product batches.
  • Grain, food raw materials, bulk materials and stored products.
  • Import, export, quarantine requirements and hidden infestation situations.
Pallets, bags and big bags for fumigation

Pallets, bags and big bags

Treatment of product batches, raw materials, packaging and containers where pests may be inside stacked or packed goods.

Containers and product batches for fumigation

Containers and product batches

Suitable for enclosed volumes, container shipments, warehouse storage and preparing cargo for further movement.

Grain, railcars and bulk cargo for fumigation

Grain and bulk cargo

Fumigation is used for raw materials and product batches where it is important to treat the volume without unpacking each unit.

How the work is organized

Before work starts, the facility, product type, volume, tightness and safety requirements are assessed. Then the preparation procedure, treatment zone, exposure time and access conditions after ventilation are defined.

  • Facility inspection or data collection on the product batch and packaging.
  • Area preparation: access restriction, sealing and ventilation shutdown if required.
  • Treatment in compliance with safety requirements.
  • Exposure, ventilation, access control and recommendations for further actions.

Documents and calculation

Cost and procedure are calculated individually because fumigation strongly depends on the batch, storage conditions, volume and timing. After the work, a service act and recommendations for internal control can be prepared.

  • Scheduling the date and time with regard to warehouse, terminal or production operations.
  • Instructions for preparing the room, container or product batch.
  • Recording completed measures and recommendations to prevent reinfestation.
